Table Lamp Crafts

Table Lamp Crafts

Plain white lampshades may look dull and boring to people who desire distinctive lamps. Personalize the table lamps in your house with some simple craft projects or make your own lamp with commonly found objects. You'll feel rewarded after the project's completion as you use the lamp every day. Table lamp crafts also make good gifts.

Tissue Paper Accents

Lampshades are easy to customize with tissue paper. Begin by cutting out shapes or patterns in different colors of tissue paper. Attach the tissue paper shapes to a smooth white lampshade with decoupage glue. Be sure the wrinkles are smoothed out. After the glue dries, paint a coat of glue over the tissue paper. At the base of the lampshade, use a glue gun to attach beads, ribbons or sequins. This makes a great craft for a child or teen bedroom, where you can use shapes that match the occupant's interests.

Canning Jar Lamp

Create a custom table lamp using a canning jar. Purchase a canning jar lamp kit from a craft store that comes with a light socket and cord both attached to a lid. The canning jar can be filled with all types of decorative objects, such as thread for a sewing room, seashells, golf balls for the sports enthusiast or candy. Wrap some ribbon or raffia around the jar or glue several small decorative items on the outside, if desired. Attach the lampshade of your choice.

China Lamp

Find an old collection of china in your home or at a yard sale to create your table lamp craft. Purchase a socket and cord unit and lampshade harp. Fill a teacup with self-hardening clay and stick the socket unit and harp into the clay to hold them in place. Turn a large bowl upside down to use as a solid base and stack different china items on top of one another, attaching them with super glue as you go. After the clay is hard, glue the teacup to the top and attach a lampshade.
