How to Clean Table Felt

How to Clean Table Felt

The felt on a pool table top is exposed to chalk and powder during the course of a pool game, and these dusts accumulates on the felt. Since beer is a popular drink to accompany a pool game, there might also be beer stains, which you can easily remove with vinegar. Make cleaning the table felt a part of your regular pool table maintenance.

Instructions

    1

Brush dust off the bumper railings around the edge of your pool table using a pool table brush. Brush the railings with quick, short strokes.

    2

Brush the center area of the pool table. Place the brush in the center of the table and brush outward, in the direction of the pockets.

    3

Angle your brush with the bristles wedged under the railing. Push the brush forward and outward to clean under the railings. Work your way around the entire table.

    4

Place your brush on one side of the table and brush across the surface of the table felt. Work from side to side and brush the entire table top.

    5

Plug a hand-held vacuum cleaner into an electrical outlet. Put the nozzle of the vacuum into the pockets of the pool table. Turn on the vacuum and clean out the pockets. Run the vacuum along the edge of the bumper railings and vacuum under the railings.

    6

Remove fresh beer stains from the table felt by blotting up the stain with a soft, lint-free cloth. Dip a clean, soft cloth into cold water. Use cold water to blot the area that is stained. Blot from the outside of the spill toward the center to keep the spill from spreading.

    7

Remove old beer stains from table felt with vinegar. Pour 1 cup of cold water into a small container and add 1 tbsp. vinegar. Dip a cloth into the mixture and blot the stain with the dampened cloth. Rinse the cloth in cold water and repeat until the stain is gone.
