How to Protect Children's Tables

Children's furniture can be easily damaged after everyday wear and tear--between toys, playing, eating and drinking. But you can protect the surface from damage. Keeping the surface from dents, as well as spills of food or drink, can prolong the life of the table for long-term use.

Instructions

    1

Purchase a table pad in the exact size of the table. These can be purchased at most major stores like Target, Wal-Mart and online retail stores. These pads are between 1/4" and 1" thick and usually have a waterproof top.

    2

Place the table pad on top of the table.

    3

Place a waterproof tablecloth over the table pad and table, letting the excess hang off the sides.

    4

Hold the pad and tablecloth into place, and turn the table upside down with the legs facing up.

    5

Staple the excess sides of the tablecloth into the bottom of the table. Be sure that the staples are securely in place and that the tablecloth is extremely tight.

    6

Turn the table back on its legs and enjoy. The surface will now be padded to protect the table's finish, and the waterproof tablecloth will allow for easy cleanups. In addition, the staples are out of sight without damaging the surface and can be easily removed once your child has outgrown the need for its protection.
