How to Make a Coffee Table Cover

How to Make a Coffee Table Cover

This coffee table cover can be made in no time. This is a great home decorating project for those that like to sew. Choose a material and color to go with your room's decor. Add tassles for added appeal or leave off if desired. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Cut the material to measure 14 inches wide by 60 inches long. This will make a table cover that is approximately 12 inches wide by 58 inches long. It will fit a coffee table that is 26 inches wide and 48 inches long. You may have to cut some off the length if your coffee table is shorter in length. The cover should hang 5 inches over each edge of the coffee table; adjust accordingly. Place the piece of material rightside down after cutting.

    2

Turn under 1/2 inch on one of the long sides; turn under again 1/2 inch and iron in place. Repeat on the other long side. Stitch 1/4 inch from the edge of each long side.

    3

Turn under 1/2 inch on one of the short sides of the material; turn under again another 1/2 inch and iron in place. Repeat on the other short side. Stitch 1/4 inch from the edge of each short side.

    4

Make a point at each end of the table cover. To do this, first measure down from one short side approximately 12 inches and in 6 inches from either long side; make a mark where these measurements meet in the middle of the material. Repeat on the other short side.
Form a point by bringing the left corner on one of the short sides to the middle of the material where the mark is; bring the right corner in to meet the other corner forming a point in the material. Secure the corners by attaching self-adhesive fabric tape. Repeat this on the other side.

    5

Sew on a tassle to each point on the table cover, if desired. The tassle helps to hold the cover down over the table. Turn cover rightside up and place in the middle of the coffee table; make sure each end of the cover drapes evenly over the sides of the table.
