A small stack of oversize books, often appropriately called coffee-table books, makes a nice statement on a coffee table and invites your guests to sit down and read. Alongside the books, cluster a group of candlesticks, no more than three, in varied heights.

Whether theyre filled with decorative or edible items, such as fruit, baskets make the perfect decorative touch to a coffee table. A fruit-filled basket can also be a great way to welcome guests. Baskets without handles make the best presentation on a coffee table.
Considerations
If there are young children in your home, keep decorative elements simple and the kids safety in the forefront. Objects that have sharp edges or ones that can cause injury should be avoided. In lieu of using fresh flowers, place an arrangement of silk flowers in a decorative vase. To enjoy the flicker of candles without the risk of burns, use a battery-operated candle.
