My Laminate Flooring Is Chipping From Pool Table Use

My Laminate Flooring Is Chipping From Pool Table Use

Even if you can't sink the eight ball, a pool table is an enjoyable piece of furniture because it is both decorative and provides entertainment. Since billiard players often bump into the pool table during use, the table often slides or shifts across the floor. If your laminate flooring is chipping from pool table use, protect it with a barrier to avoid additional friction-induced damage. Does this Spark an idea?

Rubber Shims

Purchase rubber shims from a local hardware, furniture or pool table store. Choose flat rubber shims if your laminate surface is completely level. If not, choose a shim with a slight angle to help level your table. Measure the surface area of the bottom of one of the legs to ensure you get the proper width. Install the shims beneath all four legs of your pool table.

Throw Rug

Place a throw rug beneath your pool table on top of your laminate flooring. Select a rug that coordinates with the rest of your family room, recreation room or den. Choose a throw rug larger than the perimeter of the pool table, so the table won't slip off the rug. Purchase a throw rug that has an attached rubber matting on its backside, so it sticks to your laminate floor, or buy nonslip rubber strips and apply them to the backside of your throw rug.

Felt Pads

Insert furniture felt pads beneath each of your pool table legs. Purchase furniture felt pads at your local furniture or hardware store. These pads have a felt surface, and their thickness resembles cork. Select felt pads that have a circular shape, so each pool table leg rests in the center of the pad with room to spare on all sides.

Furniture Caster Cups

Install furniture caster cups beneath your pool table legs. A caster cup is a small round cup that wraps around the bottom of a chair or table leg. Some hardware stores carry caster cups, or you can special order them online. Choose rubber caster cups that grip your laminate flooring, avoiding plastic caster cups that will slide against your flooring. Measure the circumference of your pool table legs to ensure that the opening of the caster cup is sufficient for your table.
