How to Extend a Mahogany Dining Table

A mahogany dining table makes a statement. It is elegant, tasteful, distinctive. And its rich brown color can lend a sense of stability to a space. Naturally, you will want to make the most of it, showing it off to best effect especially at dinners, parties and other gatherings. The more diners it can accommodate then, the better. A mahogany dining table with extender leaves will enable larger numbers of guests to be seated at your table. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Remove the extender leaf from beneath the table. If it is stored in a closet or basement, place it within reach of the mahogany dining table.

    2

Pull the two halves of the table apart. Mahogany is a heavier wood, so your helper will come in handy. Pull carefully so that momentum from the table's release will not propel either you or your helper backward..

    3

Insert the extender leaf into the gap between the table halves.

    4

Insert the pegs of one side of the extender leaf into the peg holes of one table half.

    5

Align the pegs of the other side of the table into the peg holes of the extender leaf.

    6

Push the table halves together until you see no gaps between the leaf and the table.
