How to Attach a Mouse to a Computer Chair

Attaching your computer mouse to your chair involves a moderate amount of modification to the chair itself. You will need to cut away at the chair's arm padding, if there is any, to make room for the mouse pad. The mouse itself will be attached to the chair via an adhesive clip on its USB wire. The USB wire will be attached to a detachable USB extension cord, so you can wheel your chair away without having to detach the mouse from the chair

Flip the chair onto it's back so that it does not move while you are working on it. Place the rigid mouse pad on the end of the arm where you wish to use the mouse (left for left-handed users; right for right-handed users). Trace the outline with a marker and then place the pad to the side.

Cut along the outline with your X-acto knife until the pad can fit on the end of the arm at a comfortable distance. Use an epoxy to secure the cut ends of the pad back together, while wearing plastic gloves. The epoxy can bond to flesh so you must always use precautions when handling it. Hold the ends down for 30 seconds to a minute, depending on the brand of epoxy, to allow it to set.

Apply the epoxy to the chair arm that is now clear of padding. Press firmly down on the epoxy with the mouse pad, making sure you have the bottom side facing down. Wait 30 seconds to a full minute to allow the epoxy to set.

Place the mouse on the mouse pad and clip the adhesive clip on the USB wire. Give your self enough slack between the clip and the mouse to be able to use the mouse freely. Peel the film off the adhesive clip and stick it to the underside of the chair arm.

Attach a USB extension cable to the mouse's USB cable and then to the computer itself. When you wish to move the chair, just disconnect the mouse at the point where it meets the extension cable.
