Wedding Table Decoration Crafts

Wedding Table Decoration Crafts

Weddings can get pricey. One way to lower the cost of a ceremony is to get creative with the centerpieces and do DIY crafts for each table. The centerpieces can either be whimsical and general, or personalized to chronicle how the bride and groom met and fell in love.

Butterflies

In Christianity, butterflies are associated with resurrection and new beginnings, making them ideal for a wedding. For a butterfly centerpiece, start with a Styrofoam ball or square. Paint the Styrofoam with pastel paint and glitter. Purchase paper butterflies from a local craft store and glue them to wire sticks before mounting them in the Styrofoam base in a bouquet-like fashion. Intermix the butterflies with other Christian symbols of fresh beginnings such as peacock feathers. Or, simply stick real or fake roses between the butterflies.

Honeymoon

If the honeymoon is on the beach, put sand and miniature folding chairs in a glass bowl.

Make the centerpiece reflect the honeymoon destination. If the bride and groom are heading to the beach, fill a vase or glass bowl with sand and place fake palm trees, miniature hammocks or folding chairs on top. For city honeymoons, fill the glass with pebbles and then visit a craft store to pick up miniatures of the particular city's icons, such as the Eiffel Tower or the Empire State building, to add to the mix. If the honeymoon is going to be on a cruise, fill the glass bowl with sand and water, and place toy boats on top. There is always the option of using scrapbook stickers that represent the destination and stick them to the outside of the bowl.

Wishing Well

Start with a glass bowl and paper the outside with scrapbook paper that looks like stones. Fill the bowl with pennies and then with water before putting it in the center of the table with a placard saying "Wishing well" beside it. Set a roll of coins at each place setting and let guests toss coins into the well as symbols of all the good things that they hope the couple will experience in the future. An alternative to the glass bowl is a basket with a handle, which can be wrapped with fake flowers.

Archway

Put a miniature trellis with ornaments such as cupids and hearts in the center of the table.

Visit the doll section at any store and pick up petite trellises or archways. Wrap fake vines and flowers around the wood and then dangle small ornaments that represent wedded bliss from the top. Ornaments can include hearts, doves, miniature cupids, or charms in the shape of lips. Add a sassy touch by putting a garter belt beneath the arch.

Yearbook

Make the centerpiece a type of yearbook that chronicles the relationship and that guests can write in.

In lieu of a guest book, hark back to high school and create a yearbook of the relationship and place it in the center of the table. Fill it with photos that chronicle the couple's relationship with plenty of room for guests to comment. To make it fun, provide guests with colored pens and stickers.
