Thanksgiving Table Craft Ideas

Thanksgiving Table Craft Ideas

If youre having company over for Thanksgiving or hosting your family this year, youll want to consider how to dress up your table. The meal is the most important part of Thanksgiving, so you want to accentuate it with a beautifully decorated table. You can decorate your dining room table and a kids table on any budget. Does this Spark an idea?

Tablecloth

There are many beautiful options for Thanksgiving day tablecloths that you can find at many stores. However, if youre feeling crafty, you might want to make your own or jazz up a tablecloth that you already own with handmade runner. You can find patterns at your local sewing store, but you dont really need a pattern for a table runner. Just measure the length of the table and add a foot on each side and determine how wide you want your table runner. Cut out two pieces of fabric that match your dimensions and sew them together inside out, leaving room to turn them right side out. Hand stitch the opening closed and iron out any creases.

Place Cards

No matter how many people youre hosting for Thanksgiving, you might want to consider using place cards. Theyre a great way to add decor to your table and it helps avoid the uncomfortable atmosphere that can follow when trying to decide where to sit.

One option is to wrap decorative paper or cardstock with a Thanksgiving stamp around a chocolate bar. Your guests can take it home with them for a late night sweet treat. You can also make tented place cards out of cardstock, handwrite the names and decorate them with Thanksgiving stamps you can find at your local craft store. One more option is to get individual mini pumpkins for each person and write each guests name on a pumpkin. Make sure you wash the pumpkins before writing the name and placing them on the table.

Centerpieces

Depending on your budget, you can go several different ways when choosing a Thanksgiving centerpiece. An inexpensive option is to buy mini white or orange pumpkins and turn them into taper candle holders. Place tapered candles in them and set them on a piece of wood which you can find at your local craft store. Another option is to fill a clear, glass vase with cranberries and water and fill it with lush white roses.

Kids Table

Use a large sheet of paper as the kids tablecloth, sit a bucket of crayons in the middle and let the children draw on it. If theyre old enough, encourage them to write or draw something they are thankful for. You can decorate their table cloth with Thanksgiving themed stamps. Place a sheet of Thanksgiving stickers at each childs place setting and have them decorate it before or after dinner.
