Centerpiece Craft Ideas

Centerpieces dress up tables for everyday use or for special occasions. Centerpiece crafts allow for a customized table topper that can be changed frequently to fit the changing seasons or holidays. These homemade centerpieces also save on the budget. Modify centerpiece crafts to fit the theme, occasion, decor and your personal style. Does this Spark an idea?

Topiary

A homemade topiary centerpiece can be adapted to fit any color scheme. You'll need a 4-inch terracotta pot, two Styrofoam balls that are 2 inches in diameter, a twig, silk flowers, craft moss and pebbles. Paint the pot to match the decor of the room. Place the pebbles in the bottom of the pot to prevent tipping. Cut one of the balls in half. Use hot glue to hold it in place at the top of the pot, with the rounded side sticking out of the pot. Place a small amount of hot glue on one end of the twig, pressing the end into the second Styrofoam ball. Cover the ball with silk flowers by hot gluing them in place. Start with larger flowers and use small flowers to fill in the holes. Place another small amount of hot glue on the other end of the twig and press it into the Styrofoam in the pot. Glue the moss in place to cover the Styrofoam in the base of the pot.

Nature Centerpiece

Use a grapevine wreath as the base of the nature craft centerpiece. Collect twigs, leaves, pine cones, nuts, sea shells and other natural materials for the centerpiece. Use hot glue or floral wire to hold each of the items on the grapevine wreath. Wrap a coordinating ribbon around the wreath. Lay the wreath flat on the table for display.

Customized Candles

Arrange candles with a crafty touch for a customized centerpiece. Use a selection of pillar candles, varying the size and colors. Cut bands of decorative paper in coordinating colors to wrap around the candles. For variety, layer two different patterned papers, add letter stickers to spell words or use shaped paper punches on the paper. Glue the bands of paper around the middle of the candles. Tie a ribbon around the candles for an extra touch. Paint a wooden tray to serve as the base for the candles. Arrange the candles in the tray, filling in the bottom with glass marbles around the base of the candles.
