Craft Ideas for a Christmas Centerpiece

Craft Ideas for a Christmas Centerpiece

Christmas often means throwing a party, even if only for family. Add something special to the decor of your Christmas party this year by making your own festive centerpieces. You don't need a lot of craft experience or a huge budget to make something beautiful to place in the center of your party tables. Does this Spark an idea?

Ribbon Christmas Trees

Make festive Christmas centerpieces in a matter of minutes with a few supplies from the craft store. Wrap Styrofoam cones in varying sizes with ribbon in festive colors. Thread large beads onto straight pins, then push the pins into the Styrofoam cones, through the ribbon, to create tree ornaments. Finally, wrap strands of miniature battery-powered Christmas lights around the trees. Place the trees in groups of three or five in the center of the party tables. Sprinkle coconut and a little white glitter around the trees for snow.

Jars of Sweets

Use the many different kinds of sweet treats that conjure up Christmas memories as part of your homemade holiday centerpieces. Fill clear glass jars of varying heights with a variety of Christmas candies, such as candy canes, gum drops, old-fashioned ribbon candy and Hershey kisses wrapped in green and red foil. Tie festive ribbon in big decorative bows around the jars near the bottom or top. Arrange groups of these jars in the center of the tables. Surround the jars with battery-powered candles, so the heat from real candles doesn't melt the candy.

Wreath and Candle

Make your own wreaths for homemade Christmas centerpieces. Cut 6-by-2-inch strips of Christmas or winter-themed fabric. For the best results, use several different fabrics per wreath. Tie the strips onto an 18-inch Styrofoam wreath form, and arrange the fringe of the strips to make the wreath look full, like a real one. Attach small Christmas ornaments to the front of the wreath with a low-temperature hot-glue gun. Place a large pillar candle in a glass hurricane. Lay the wreath flat on the table and place the glass hurricane in the center.
