How to Use Egg Crate Foam

How to Use Egg Crate Foam

Old worn-out mattresses with lumps and protruding springs result in a bad night's sleep. Worse yet, you wake up tired and stiff all over. If a new mattress can't fit in the budget, use an egg-crate foam mattress cover. These covers provide extra support for your back and are often used by back-injury patients. The egg-crate foam can fit on top of any type of mattress, even a water bed. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Installing an Egg Crate Mattress Pad

    1

Remove all sheets and covers from the mattress.

    2

Place the egg-crate foam mattress pad on top of the bed mattress. Rest the flat part against the mattress with the egg crate design pointing toward the ceiling. Some pads have built-in head rests so you'll want to position that end at the head of the bed.

    3

Fit the sheets back over the mattress and the egg-crate pad. The sheets must fit snugly; otherwise, the pad can slip out of place while you sleep. Check to make sure the sheets are on correctly when finished.

Storing an Egg Crate Mattress Pad for Periodic Use

    4

Roll the pad up tightly, starting with either the foot or head of the pad. Use your hands to grip tightly and continue to roll until the pad is completely rolled up.

    5

Tie the rolled pad with rope or string. Tying at the top and bottom of the roll will ensure that it won't come unrolled.

    6

Place the rolled pad in a large trash bag to protect from dust and moisture. Tie the bag and store until needed.
