How Are the Leaves to Be Arranged on a Henredon Table?

Select a dining room table with leaves if you expect to entertain company on the rare occasion. This feature, which is available on many Henredon tables, enables you to conserve visual and functional space in your room design. Be sure to reserve a special storage space for removable, pull-out table leaves, as Henredon Furniture Industries advises against vertical storage solutions. Leaving leaves upright for extended periods of time can damage the edge of the table and lead to warping. Consider using a small duvet cover or ironing board cover to protect the surface when not in use. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Drop-Leaf/Apron Leaf

    1

    Clear the table.

    2

Grip the edge of the hanging leaf.

    3

Gently lift the leaf until it is level with the rest of the table.

    4

Reach under the table leaf and grip the leaf support.

    5

Swing out a supporting leg or slide out a supporting arm.

    6

Look under the table to ensure the leaf is settled correctly.

    7

Press against the surface of the leaf to test it.

Pull-Out Leaves

    8

    Clear the table.

    9

Grip both ends of the table; the length of the table will be between you and your helper.

    10

Pull outward, simultaneously, to slide the table top segments apart; a gap will appear in the middle of the table.

    11

Place a table leaf on the center gap so the pegs of the leaf are aligned with the holes in the tabletop.

    12

Press the leaf against one side of the tabletop.

    13

Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add a second leaf in the remaining gap for more seating.

    14

Grip both ends of the table and press the tabletop towards the center firmly. Repeat if necessary to close the gap.

    15

Examine the seam to ensure the leaves are closely fitted.
