Ideas for an Inexpensive Coffee Table

Ideas for an Inexpensive Coffee Table

When your budget is a big concern, as it should be, it can be daunting to decorate a house in a way that will be to your liking. Finding a good, cheap coffee table that will meet your needs is a good way to tie your TV room together as well as have a table that can be eaten on, worked on or just used as a coffee table. Finding a cheap coffee table is easier than it may seem. With a bit of patience, and perhaps some ingenuity, you can find a solution that is right for your home. Does this Spark an idea?

Simple Coffee Table

A coffee table easily can be made using cinder blocks and scrap wood, both of which can be found at your local hardware store. Lay four cinder blocks on the floor, and place the board over the cinder blocks. This is a very flexible setup as you can always repurpose any part of your coffee table to any other furniture or projects around the house that might need it. Just be careful not to stub your toe on the cinder blocks.

Used Coffee Tables

Browse your local thrift stores and garage sales for used coffee tables. Craigslist is another good source to find deals on used coffee tables. With used coffee tables, they may have some scratches, but this can be covered up with paint if need be. Using paint on a used coffee table is a convenient way to make it your own and ensure that it matches the room where it will reside.

Ottomans

Look for an ottoman that has a flat, firm surface. Many larger ottomans can conveniently double as a coffee table while also still retaining their use as an ottoman. A piece of wood can even be placed over the top of the ottoman to allow it to act more as a table but easily can be removed when not in use and stored behind or under a couch or bookshelf.
