How to Build a Pool Table Ping-Pong Top

How to Build a Pool Table Ping-Pong Top

Building a ping-pong table top to put on top of a pool table is a very cheap and effective route to playing ping pong. Instead of buying an entire table, having a ping-pong table top that is easily movable frees up more space in storage and is easy to build. This project should take about two hours, which includes painting.

Instructions

Putting the table together

    1

Take the belt sander and with your piece of plywood on top of the saw horses, begin lightly sanding one side of the plywood to make sure there are no imperfections and you have as smooth of a surface as possible.

    2

Grab your green enamel paint--or whatever main color you choose--and begin the process of painting both sides. One coat is needed on the bottom, but at least three coats are needed on the top side that you play on.

    3

Ensure the paint has dried. Using the masking or painter's tape, create the playing lines. All lines should be three quarters of an inch wide. One solid line goes around the entire edge of the table. One more line goes directly down the middle of the table end to end lengthwise. Wait for it to dry and paint a second coat if needed.

    4

Flip the table over and take your adhesive rubber paddings. Apply the sticky side along the table in the area of which it has contact with the pool table. These pads need to be in the proper place to ensure you do not scratch or harm your pool table. You should have at least four on each side and three on the ends.
