How to Make a Wooden Coffee Table

How to Make a Wooden Coffee Table

Making a wooden coffee table is not as difficult as you might think. It is actually a simple enough project that any beginning woodworker or inexperienced do-it-yourselfer can use in order to gain some experience working with wood. Yes, some coffee tables can be more difficult to create than others, but the beauty of the project is that you dont have to make a complex table.

Instructions

    1

Build a wooden frame using two 2-foot by 1-foot by 1-inch pinewood boards and two 1-foot by 6-inch by 1-inch pinewood boards. To attach the boards, drill three 2-inch screws into each corner of the frame, each screw 6 inches apart from the other. The frame will measure 2-feet wide, 8-inches tall and 1-foot deep.

    2

Attach a 2-foot by 8-inch by 1-inch pinewood board to one end of the frame to create a box. To attach the board to the frame, drill 2-inch screws at each corner of the board, into the frame.

    3

Smooth down the wood of the box using sandpaper and then paint the wood, or stain the wood however you prefer. Allow time for the paint or stain to dry for about an hour.

    4

Attach a caster to each corner of one of the 2-foot by 1-foot faces of the box. The casters can be purchased at any hardware store and will come with all of the necessary hardware to attach the piece to the box.

    5

Flip the box so that the casters are the bottom and the opening of the box is facing your couch. This will be a wooden coffee table with a shelf underneath the table top to store magazines or whatever you want.
